This is a Soviet - version silver coin of Yuan Datou from the third year of the Republic of China. On the obverse side is the profile portrait of Yuan Shikai. Above it are the characters "The Third Year of the Republic of China", and on the right side, there is the stamp of "苏维埃 (Soviet)".
It is a product of a special historical period. In 1931, the reactionary Kuomintang carried out military encirclement, suppression, and economic blockades against the Soviet areas. To stabilize the financial order, the government of the Soviet areas added the stamp of "苏维埃" to the captured silver coins of Yuan Datou from the third year of the Republic of China for circulation and reserve. The circulation quantity of this version of silver coins is scarce, which endows them with high historical research value and collection value. In the collection market, they attract much attention due to their scarcity. However, there are also many imitations. When appraising, you can start from the following aspects: check the "characters". The handwriting of genuine products is vigorous and powerful. For example, characters like "造 (made)" and "国 (country)" have specific writing styles. Examine the edge teeth. There are fine scratches on the part between the large teeth on the outer edge of genuine products, and they are not completely regular. Observe the patterns. The portrait of Yuan Shikai on genuine products is clear, with distinct details such as eyebrows and beards, showing strong three - dimensional effects.
